How to Get Your Site Indexed by Google

Step one of being found is to be listed

Updated yesterday

We all want to come up in search results. The first step of being found is to get your site listed in Google. Follow these steps to get your site listed and start showing up in search results:

1. Submit Your Site to Google Search Console

Google Search Console is a powerful tool that lets you manage your site’s presence on Google. It helps you submit sitemaps, monitor your site’s health, and resolve any potential issues that might affect indexing.

  • If you haven’t already, sign up for Google Search Console.

  • Add and verify your website.

  • Submit your sitemap so Google can easily crawl and index your site’s pages.

2. Create and Submit a Sitemap

A sitemap is a file that lists all the important pages on your website, helping search engines crawl and index them more efficiently. You can create a sitemap using tools like Podpage, which automatically generates a sitemap for your podcast website. (Your sitemap is yourdomain.com/sitemap ).

Go to Pages > Sitemap and copy the URL to your Sitemap.

Once your sitemap is ready, you can submit it directly to Google through Search Console. This speeds up the process of indexing and ensures Google knows about all your important pages.

To check and see if your site is listed, go to google.com and type this is the search box:

site:yourwebsite.com

(Just replace yourwebsite.com with your actual domain, e.g., site:podcastshow.com).
