If you don't have an email list provider such as Kit, Beehiv, Mailerlite (there are MANY options), you can use Podpage to collect email addresses until you decide on an e-mail list tool.
The Process
When someone subscribes to your list on Podpage, their email address goes through a process to ensure they really want to receive your content. Here's how it works:
Initial Sign-Up (Unconfirmed): I visit your website and fill out the subscription form. At this point, my email address is unconfirmed. This means that while I’ve shown interest, Podpage doesn’t know for sure if I really want to be added to your list yet.
Confirmation Email: Podpage sends me a confirmation email asking if I want to be on your mailing list. This is essentially Podpage saying, “Are you sure you want to receive emails from this website?”
Confirmation (Confirmed): I click the confirmation button in the email, indicating that, yes, I do want to be on your list. Once I click the button, my email address becomes confirmed and will appear in your list on Podpage.
Why is this Important?
This confirmation process is required by anti-spam laws to ensure that only people who truly want to receive your emails are added to your list. Although it adds an extra step, it’s a helpful way to verify that subscribers are genuinely interested in your content. This means you can be confident that anyone on your list has actively chosen to receive your emails.
