Understanding Confirmed vs. Unconfirmed Email Addresses

I think I should have more people on my e-mail list

Updated over a week ago

If you don't have an email list provider such as Kit, Beehiv, Mailerlite (there are MANY options), you can use Podpage to collect email addresses until you decide on an e-mail list tool.

The Process

When someone subscribes to your list on Podpage, their email address goes through a process to ensure they really want to receive your content. Here's how it works:

  1. Initial Sign-Up (Unconfirmed): I visit your website and fill out the subscription form. At this point, my email address is unconfirmed. This means that while I’ve shown interest, Podpage doesn’t know for sure if I really want to be added to your list yet.

  2. Confirmation Email: Podpage sends me a confirmation email asking if I want to be on your mailing list. This is essentially Podpage saying, “Are you sure you want to receive emails from this website?”

  3. Confirmation (Confirmed): I click the confirmation button in the email, indicating that, yes, I do want to be on your list. Once I click the button, my email address becomes confirmed and will appear in your list on Podpage.

Why is this Important?

This confirmation process is required by anti-spam laws to ensure that only people who truly want to receive your emails are added to your list. Although it adds an extra step, it’s a helpful way to verify that subscribers are genuinely interested in your content. This means you can be confident that anyone on your list has actively chosen to receive your emails.
