A deep link is a unique URL that takes your audience directly to a specific episode on podcast directories. This direct access is useful for sharing and promoting individual episodes.
Most directories and podcast sites dont actually link to the direct episode in major players. That's because the major players dont make it easy to automatically find the episode link. Strangely, it's very difficult.
In Podpage, you can manually add these links yourself, or if you're on the Elite plan, we will attempt to find it for you.
Automatic Retrieval for Elite users
For Podpage Elite Plan users, we make an effort to obtain deep links for your episodes on three major podcast directories: Apple, Spotify, and YouTube.
Here's how it works:
We attempt to Retrieve Deep Links:
As you import your episodes to your Podpage account, our system will automatically attempt to retrieve the deep links for these episodes on the specified directories.
Challenges with Apple's Timing:
However, it's important to note that sometimes, especially with Apple Podcasts, there can be a delay between when you import your episode and when Apple imports it to their directory. This means that when we initially looked for the episode, there might be no deep link available yet because Apple hasn't imported it.
How to Add Deep Links Manually:
If you're eager to add the episode link to your Podpage website before we manage to retrieve it, you can take matters into your own hands. To do this, follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Locate your podcast on Apple Podcasts.
Step 2: Copy the direct link to the specific episode.
Step 3: Visit your episode edit page in your Podpage dashboard.
Step 4: Paste the episode link into the designated field.
This manual process allows you to maintain the integrity of your episode listings, even when deep links take a little longer to appear. Remember, when you provide the link manually, it will be displayed on your Podpage website for your audience to access.
